The National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) Region 02 office in coordination with the DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office (NVFO) initiated the identification of distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who will be the beneficiaries in the implementation of the Starter Kit program.
As a result, 20 distressed OFWs who were assisted by the DOLE NVFO through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) program in settling amicably their request for assistance as a consequence of maltreatment / mistreatment by their former employers abroad were selected.
The beneficiaries have undergone a skills training on meat processing being facilitated by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA). During the 5-day activity, they were trained to prepare longganisa, embotido, tocino and other products of processed meat.
DOLE NVFO OIC Engr. Joseph B. Sales announced during the awarding of the Starter Kit tools / gigs that in line with the NRCO’s mandate to develop, promote and implement a national agenda on sustainable return and reintegration to address the multi-faceted reintegration needs of returning OFWs and their families, said Office is unceasingly assisting targeted clients. He further encouraged the beneficiaries to start properly with their projects and sustain it so that it could augment their daily domestic needs.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude considering the chance given to them that they could make up again from their frustrations they encountered abroad that diverted their expectations or aspirations of supposedly having a better standard of living because of that opportunity.
